Amphenol makes lots of connectors. You want good silver teflon connectors.

RG-58 is not a good choice for VHF. A good 8X if better.

The marinetraffic data feeds come from VHF radios maintained by volunteers that send the data over the Internet to marinetraffic. They aren't necessarily spotted in locations with the best coverage....
