Infinite Dock Line Possibilities!

Last fall at the Annapolis show, I found a whole 300'' spool of gorgeous brand-new royal blue double-braided 1" diameter dockline at Bacon''s for a price I couldn''t pass up (60 cents/foot!). I do my...

Hi, Chip;

Look into "Frigoboat":

This is a very electrically-efficient keel-cooled system. The components can be installed in your present icebox in an easy...

I''ll be watching this thread too. Heads are on my shopping list as well, and I''ve also wondered about the "airline" vacuum variety.

Fuel Tanks

Steve, that''s the kind of visceral reaction I was wondering about. I wonder how many more would feel that way, and fear wooden tanks even if I could swear on a stack of bibles that they were the...

Fuel Tanks

A new skeleton has come out of his closet. My issue du jour: Evidently my old (galvinized) fuel tanks on Diva are deemed DOA. So, in my silver-lining kind of way, I''d like to take advantage of this...

Teak Treatment in the Tropics

Okay, I''ve really got to look into this Signature Finish stuff. Rich, you''re the third person to recommend it to me. You say your teak job is 6 years old? In what kind of sun/heat/humidty...

How Heavy Is Too Heavy

Well, speaking for myself, the 46K is spread over a pretty long waterline: 59'' LOA, 48'' LWL. It feels to me like a nice "wheelbase" to ride on in most conditions.

How Heavy Is Too Heavy

I concur with the preceding comments in support of heavier displacement. I went to a full keel on my last boat, a Cape Dory 30, weighing 11,000. Now I''ve got a full-keel ketch at 46,000. As said,...

Teak Treatment in the Tropics

Acres of lovely new wood are sprouting upon Diva, and in a few weeks I''m going to have to decide what product to use to keep it lovely.
For the first time in my boat-owning life, I''m not trying to...

ISO advice re sizing winches

Well, Miss "Diva" is finally past the Serious Structural Phase, and my mind now turns to the "fun stuff": rigging, sails, hardware, etc.

The winches that came with the boat are all mismatched,...
