We're always looking for people to sail with and to share stories and advice.
Just brought Duchess down from NY this spring. We had a daysailer before Duchess, and rented before that, so we're...

Re: Fynspray Water Pumps
I think the deep socket solution will work, so it's off to the hardware store again. My toolbag overflowth, and it is good. Beneath the pump is a simple hose and hose clamp, so that should come off...

Re: Power tool for sanding toe rail
I've only started on my toe rail with a scraper, so perhaps I don't have a say here. However, I keep a blade sharpening stone nearby and use it - often. When the scraper is sharp, the vanish comes...

Re: When does the fun start?
Boats need care, always and forever. The sun, the sea, all the elements are wearing down every part, all the time. I have a list of things to be done. Lists, actually: what keeps me from sailing,...

Re: Vinyl sanitation hose: How to get it over tight fittings
Thanks for the advice. This started because that funky smell that would greet me when opening up the boat. I agree that we wouldn't put up with this at home, so why accept it as a part of sailing? ...

Vinyl sanitation hose: How to get it over tight fittings
We are having a grand time installing new vinyl sanitation hose. It's 1 1/2 ID, and never goes gently over the barbed fittings. I bought a heat gun the soften up the hose, but I'm not sure how much...

Clearing the Holding Tank Vent Hose
Recently purchased a Hans Christian 33. We're dealing with foul odor from the head and going after all variables in play. We bought the boat from a person who spent weekends aboard it but never...
