Re: Anchor chain for PS 37

Coorie Doon is moored in Belfast. I love Bucks. She is on the hard in Winterport for the winter. I believe "Cookie" , another PSC 34, is one of your neighbors at Bucks. I'll keep an eye out for...

Re: Anchor chain for PS 37

I use a 3 year old Lewmar H2 with gypsy and drum. It has a remote and a manual reversion kit. It's the most used and best investment yet. I didn't notice too much weight in the bow until I had 100...

Re: Fuel Tank

I had a heavier aluminum one welded in Maine and it ended up costing $3000. I would inspect the inside and if ok barrier coat the out side and have it re coated with truck bed liner. If there is no...

Re: Crealock-34 head

My Raritan compact works great but when the guts of my Groco come back from overhaul this week I will most likely throw it back in soon. It just fits better.:)

Re: Miscellaneous Questions - Newbie Owner 31

As for the clanking under power, check the prop for any side play and while down there see if there is any wiggle in the rudder. Enjoy your new boat.:)

Re: Crealock-34 head

After putting another repair kit in the Groco, it failed again. The local marine store had the bottom end of a Raritan PH compact on clearance sale. I had to special order the bowl. After looking at...

Re: PSC 37 staysail sheet rigging options?

Grant, it is the same on my 34, if I run the sheets out side the shroud then I can't go to windward without rubbing, if I run them inside and then ease the sheets they rub inside. I put plastic snap...

Re: organizing bitter ends of sheets and halyards

There are no dumb questions. The only lines I have on the cabin top as you described are the reefing lines, the main sheet, and the main sheet traveller lines. The traveller lines are short enough...

Re: Crealock-34 head

Just heard that Groco heads are back ordered for a year. Seems like production problems. They must have moved their production to China.

What was making the noise, now that we have added our 2 cents worth?

Re: Cathunk, gurgle, swoosh

When I initially put my 3 blade max prop in reverse while moving forward if above 1200 RPM it initially makes those funny noises as you describe. It is normal but it sounds quite dis functional.:)

Re: WD Schock Santana 21ft

Santana 21, a really nice sailboat. Only weakness was the rudder( the wood rotted) but just maintain it and it should be fine. I pushed mine around with a British Seagull motor so a larger trolling...

Re: AIS / Marine Traffic

Thanks Dave. Do you suppose the software in the AIS is just coming up with wildly high SWR. I am not very electronic smart but I have never had so much trouble with plug and play.:)

Re: AIS / Marine Traffic

Talked to an engineer at Si-tex. Seems like you need an SWR on your antenna that is less than 5 to 1. Interference from metal near the antenna ( like on the pushpit)is a no no also. I hooked up to...

Ethernet cable to Garmin radar yanked apart

When the yard boys unstepped my mast they neglected to unhook the network cable to the radar antenna and yanked both end couplings off. Should I have new ends put on or a whole new cable. Thanks....

Re: AIS / Marine Traffic

I tried installing a class B ( Si Tex) and am having problems with the vhf ant also. It starts up fine, has good GPS signal, sends first location with mmsi # and then goes to fail mode(ais ant). I...

Re: Got the air bleed blues

I think if you have bled the high pressure fuel pump it will take care of the injectors. If you have been cranking the engine over with the raw water intake open you may have already got water in the...

Re: Cost for sailboat rescue: $663000 - U-T San Diego

They actually spent nothing. The aircraft use up so many flight hours a year anyway. The ships spend so much time at sea anyway. The soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are salaried. You can break...

Re: Soda blast/ chemical peel bottom paint build up

Thank you all for the information. I think I'll pay the yard to peel it off. I think they used to use ground walnut shells to clean the water injection scale buildup off the innards of the F105 s...

Compare and contrast yard doing bottom peel or soda blast. Price, results? 34 foot boat. Talk among yourselves. My boat has way too much thick Paint peeling off and that much sanding can't be good...

Re: Mast Pulpit on a 34

Sounds very reasonable. I have everything led aft for Singlehanding but I still have to go forward to address Murphy's law quite often, like reefing, and batten, lazy jack fun.I totally get the...
