It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

Re: Can I anchor for a week?
I would be more worried about my dinghy at the public boat launch than my boat anchored out. There are unattended anchored and moored boats all over the place up here. We used to moor our boat at...

Re: DIY - discussion on building a DIY hookah diving compressor
Just a quick question about holding one's breath on an ascent after breathing compressed air. Wouldn't one naturally want to exhale as the chest expands? I've been a diver for almost 30 years and a...

Re: 10' Porta Boat For Dinghy?
We have a ten footer with a 4hp two stroke. It's been a very good tender for us. I still haven't decided if it's the tender I'm going to take when we go offshore though. It's a little tippy...

Anyone here on the Salish Sea with a composting Head?
I've been dropping in on the composting head discussion from time to time. I've brought it up with the admiral but she wants to see one herself before we plunk down any money or time for the switch....

Re: Mind Your Hi-Tech Splices!!!
I swapped out halyards a couple years ago. I'm going to run down to the boat this morning to see whether I used a thimble. Although I've had some luck splicing new braided lines, I've not had any...

Re: Tying stern-to to shore
I had a poly line part during a night of heavy gusts in Laura Cove one night. I switched over to sampson line that all our commercial guys use for crab pots and longlines. It's pretty tuff, not so...

Re: Tying stern-to to shore
We do it quite a bit up in Desolation Sound B.C. I carry 300' of line on a garden hose reel mounted on our RADAR pole. We swing our nose in towards shore to scope out our intended tie off point and...

Re: Mounting electronics on a pedestal guard
I made a teak mounting board that sits between the pedestal guards, but I only mounted it on one of the upright tubes so I can swing it around and see the display whether I'm sitting aft or forward.

Deception Pass is in our backyard. We go through with the current all the time, we actually plan our transits to be there with a flood or an ebb. The exception is if it's an ebb and there is a...
