Re: Found a boat we both like

I REALLY love the 9.2c's. That's what I really wanted when we bought our boat; couldn't find one in our price range, though. Congrats on what will hopefully be a great boat!

Re: Building or buying a 30ft cruiser

William, where do you live? How much sailing experience do you have? Do you really have your heart set on "blue water", or is that just synonymous with safe for you? Is it just you or you and a...

Re: Allmand 35

Not to beat a dead horse, but here's the sales brochure for the Allmand 35. You can see the difference in the cabin lay-out:

Re: Islander 36 projects in paradise!!!!!

Wow, what a huge culture change! What kind of restaurant? Family and I are thinking of a long road trip next summer, including GA. If we do it, it would be fun to stop in for lunch/dinner.

Re: Allmand 35

I'm almost positive that's not an Allmand 35, that's the 31. The 35's had a different galley lay-out. I have the 31, as does David_E.

Regarding the build quality, they are decent boats, but I...

Re: Nova Kool Refer

Lost, in case you aren't familiar with Denise, she has a lot of professional experience in the HVAC field. This is one of the areas about which it's safe to listen to her. (yes, that last part was...

Re: Engine running cool

FWIW, mine reads 160 most of the time. May be my thermometer, or the sensor, though.

Re: How to go for 1 or 2 year cruise?

I agree...I'd be ready to walk, unless you're getting her for a steal. Add up the cost of the repairs in your head, and add it to the cost of the boat. Is the sum close to or more than what you'd...

Re: Boats on the hard and all wrapped up

I'm VERY tempted to stay in, but I haven't had the best of luck so far. I'm hoping for a warm winter to give me more time to work on her and get her "ship-shape" for next season. Then I can...

Re: a bit of friday humour

You can fix that by adding an appropriate domain name entry with your registrar. Right now, you apparently (I haven't looked to confirm) only have boogienights.org (http://www.boogienights.org)...

Re: Maiden Voyage Trip Report - A 23-hour tour!

Sounds like everybody survived unscathed, and the only boat that suffered any damage was yours. Congrats on a successful voyage! The rest of the "issues" you described are all things that can be...

Dave,
Is the 5424 raw water or fresh water cooled, where is the water temp being taken, and for what portion of the engine was Universal's spec written? As you know, I'm not an engine expert by any...

Our first month with our first boat was great. Of course, we bought her in October, and she was hauled by November. In May when she launched, we discovered a problem with the outboard that turned...

I hadn't even considered that there might have been other "stuff" under it at one point. That's a good point.

We had a chance to go for a sail this past weekend. Got to Dragon Wing around 3:00 PM, and decided I would start the engine before doing anything else. My wife sat there watching me, unsure whether...

Re: What to do what to do :)

Which S2's are you visiting? It sounds like the 9.2 center cockpit. That hallway and aft cabin are a bit small. I liked the boats for my family, but I can see her point. If you get a chance,...
