Thanks everyone for the input, and the education on the proper meaning of "drydock". I meant the practice of trailering it in & out during every use.

Basic rankings of Sailboats

Where's the best place to find the rank of sailboats, similar to powerboats (runabouts, where Bayliner's are the starter or basic, on up to the Mariah's, Crownline's, etc?

My options would be Lake Michigan or head to the Gulf or the east or West Coastlines. Your thoughts on the best place for a beginner?

I'm on the Illinois River and you can build up quite a bit of scum if you always leave it in the water.

What's Caterpillar's market percent in sailing? They've owned Perkins since the mid-90's, and have also started using Kubota engines in their small construction machines.
