Re: C&C 25 - opinions?

Hi again,

Its been 4 more years...and I'm still working on that witty reply...day and night. So far all I have is "I know you are, but what am I?"

In the meantime, I sold my C&C25...what a...

Re: C&C 25 - opinions?

Hey, even if the OP is 8 years old, I'm still proud of my boat and happy to post. Someone will google this and maybe get some good info.

I would buy another C&C25 without hesitation. They are...

Re: Books to get kids interested in sailing?

I would like to agree with the previous post...captains couragious...excellent....there is also a (black and white) movie version which was very well done and available on netflix.

For older...

Re: Hull indent on P30, where uppers meet the hull

Thanks for the suggestion. However, the compression post is good...it was redone when the new standing rigging was installed.

Here's an update:

When spring finally arrived, the indent slowly...

Re: Best small boat for cruising the Bahamas?

The Cape Dory 26 on ebay looks excellent. I agree with the owner regarding the outboard. Honda outboards are great. However, you won't get the range of a diesel, or the battery charge. And you've...

Re: Yanmar 2gm20f

Don't panic!

It could be as simple as...the boat is sitting differently in the water. Did you move any heavy gear, fill a tank, or have another person aboard? It doesn't take much to change the...

Re: Lake Ontario Sailor

Ohh...which C&C27 did I like best. Have to say the mk4. Bigger boat...14 inches longer than the mk2. Yanmar diesel instead of atomic4. Ball valves instead of gate valves. Breakers instead of...

Re: Lake Ontario Sailor

Hi,

Thanks for all the welcoming words! In the middle of winter, its nice to talk about sailing and sailboats.

I liked the C&C25 best. Solid boat, good layout, easy to sail. I bought this...

Re: C&C or Catalina

Doogymon:

That would explain why the C&C's are so much less expensive in the USA than here in Canada, where they fetch premium prices. When the canadian dollar was very low about 10 years ago,...

Re: Good Places to Dock around Toronto

Reciprocal priveledges are definitely the way to go.

IYC has a beautiful club, filled with trees, nice restaurant, and a great pool.
Very friendly club. I visited there last summer.

Re: New 1974 Pearson 30 owner

I own hull 583, a 1974 P30.
Got her last spring. An old boat for sure, but still alot of fun.
I think if there wasn't always something to fix...I'd be bored!

I'm in kingston canada, on lake...

Re: Pearson 30 rig tuning

If your boat has been on the hard for 2 years, I suggest taking it slow. The stays will stretch, and the hull will flex. So make some adjustments, then check on them a few days later, and after any...

Re: 1978 Pearson 30 - broken topping lift

Most likely its a simple repair...in a difficult location.
You need to go up and remove whatever is up there that broke. Then take the whole affair to your local rigging shop to replace. Most...

Re: Yanmar 2gm20f

My guess is that its simpler than you expect. Check the throttle idle set screw. I think the PO tried to get the engine to run by cranking the rpm so it wouldn't stall due to bad fuel. Now you...

Re: Hull indent on P30, where uppers meet the hull

I'll take some pix and post asap.
But basically, where the upper shroud is bonded to the hull, about 6 inches below the rub rail, the hull goes in a bit, rather than the smooth curve you would...

Hull indent on P30, where uppers meet the hull

I have a 1974 Pearson P30. I noticed that there is a hull indent right where the upper stay meets the hull below the rub rail. Obviously I immediately loosend the uppers. On closer inspection, there...

Re: Pearson 30 reverse problem

Been there, done that!

First, keep your speed slow in reverse.
Next, only use a small amount of tiller angle.
And finally, keep a firm grip on the stick!!!

Re: Starter Sailboat advise needed. Have detail profile of need.

Instead of choosing the boat, let the boat choose you!

See whats for sale in your area at a price you are comfortable with. I think you have a generous budget. You will quickly see that many...

Re: Older 1980s C&C

1980 was the big switch for C&C to more modern models. On these (and newer) you will find breakers (instead of fuses), ball valves (instead of gate), and yanmar diesels (instead of atomic 4). The...

Re: Advice on a Caribbean Cruiser

A classic question!
The smaller, more rugged, full keeled boat will be better at sea.
But the bigger, more modern fin keeler will be better in port.

In the caribbean, you don't need to do long...

Re: C&C or Catalina

You have done your research well...they are both excellent boats. It may come down to personal preference and style.

The C&C will definitely be faster and more stylish.

Re: C & C Yachts

I assume you are looking at a C&C29mk1...the mk2 came out around 1980 and are much more expensive, not to mention smaller.

I highly recommend the 29...its a huge boat for the money, excellent...
