If that's the case, you have a self exciting alternator. That is, the Alternator will not turn on until the engine reaches a set rpm. It has to make it's own magnetic field. Once it starts...

Are you tyring to get hot water?

If so, can you tell me where the hoses from the water heater go to.

They should be hooked to the fresh water side of the engine. The raw side will never get hot enough.

The top photo looks like a depth transducer mount. The second thingy is the bottom rudder mount. It holds the rudder on.
