Re: New Sails arrived any tips?

He has a Morgan 24.
Likely Dacron, likely sail slugs, and he asked about the main. His genoa is furled.

Re: New Sails arrived any tips?

It'll (main) likely fold along the same lines it shipped when you drop it, if that works for you then no worries, otherwise just take your time folding it.

Call Catalina Direct, if they sell the part (sounds like they do)... they can tell you the best way to implement it. Their support is top notch. Prices are usually spot on too.

Re: Walk-through transom for under $45K?

I can verify 6-7 average depth... we had a 5 foot fin, and sailing was always an adventure in new and crafty ways to become un-grounded. Our best was a "flying grounding" where we pushed the channel...

Re: Tiller or Wheel for Solo?

I find it fascinating that the best "plus" for wheel steering by most is the wheel brake...

As noted the tiller clutch is similar, but they don't mention that it's a PITA when you don't need it...

Re: Sailing around the world on a Sunfish - non stop

Re: Downsizing & looking for some ideas

Yep, what others have said, you look at the venue, find what everyone else is racing (the largest fleet) and buy that... I my case that means either buying a Lightning, or an S2 7.9... neither of...

Re: Downsizing & looking for some ideas

How cheap, how small, how classic, what's your venue, who else in the fleet?

If I were going small, short handed, the first boat I'd look for is a Holder 20 for small boat PHRF racing. Not...

Re: Do the Cat 22s, and the S2 26 footers, etc., use spinnakers?

HA... just fly the spinnaker in 5mph or less for a while until you get the rigging, raising, and dousing down and smooth. Hey a tiller pilot helps too.

SHNOOL <--- sailing on a small lake with a...

Re: Do the Cat 22s, and the S2 26 footers, etc., use spinnakers?

S2 7.9 OD uses a spinnaker (symmetrical) as part of OD rules
Capri 25 OD uses a spinnaker (symmetrical) as part of OD rules
J24 symmetrical "" """
J22 symmetrical """"

Re: Hunter loses rudder

Re: The difference in a Bene 265 & 281??? Specs are simular....

The first 285 looks pretty ripe, the O281 looks to be the same exact boat as the 285 (hull)... didn't look at sail area (am figuring it's less). What I find fascinating...

Re: Outboards: sailing with the motor down.

Tilt that motor OUT... like this:...
