Our fiberglass is not faired, it has a deep waffley texture and paint clung to those dips. We did do a few interim washes and then worked at it further. Stuff kept comig up!

Look into the 8' Portabote with a small 2hp motor. It will fit along your lifelines when folded up and seat 3 in a pinch.
All the dingy options come with drawbacks, but for a small craft I think...

Take pipas, the green young coconuts. They are good with the tops sliced off and drunk straight from the hull. A straw helps! They keep with out a fridge and are naturally cool.

We used a crimped wire cup brush with a stem, on the drill and a paint and rust stripper disc, also on the drill. A hand held wire brush was used for the tight spaces but it did not work very well...
