Re: Tesla's new power cell for houses

If all you do is run off the battery during the day when electric prices are high and recharge at night when they are low you may eventually pay for the unit. Add solar to recharge them and you...

Re: Battery Terminal Short-Circuit Protection

A socket wrench with extension will prevent the short as long as you don't drop it.

Thanks Maine, for solid advice once again!

Re: 1/4" line in a 3/8" rope clutch?

I agree with overbored. A 50% difference in diameter is too much. Buy proper clutches or put covers on the small lines where the clutch hits them.

Re: NMEA 2000 questions

Each should be connected to a "T". The tees are connected to each other, leaving two ends. TT

Re: List of Fast, Offshore-Capable Cruising Boats?

Also the C&C 35 III, 37 and the C&C Landfall 38 which will give you more cruise with slightly smaller sailplan.

Spring boat show - don't waste your time

I was down by City Dock last evening and was able to walk the pier and see the boats on display. Huge number of Bene, some Jenneau and a few interesting used boats, some cats, but after seeing what...

Re: jib track bolts, big phillips?

You do. Try an automotive or truck supply.
You'll need an assistant - one with screwdriver one with wrench.

Re: C&C 35 with Mod Bulb Keel, Effect?

Original draft was 6 feet 5 inches. If you are trying to squeeze out every last degree in a competitive race you might notice a degree or 2 difference in COG. Keel mods on C&Cs are not unheard of. ...

Re: C&C 35 Mkiii?

Love mine. Check the mast step and be sure the balsa deck is dry. If maintained it is a great boat! PM with questions.

Re: 2015 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Rich,

Congrats! Sunday was awesome! Sailed over near Bloody and flew the asym back. Saturday was 2-25 knots, so no spinnaker work with a small crew.

Winds are supposed to be light this...

Re: Varianta 37 - vs Hanse vs Beneteau Oceanis?

What numbers are you looking at for the Bene?
Don't forget that all that beam adds drag, plus many have in-mast furlers with poor sail shape and the stock sails are not cut well.

Here are some...

J/Boats- Better Sailboats for People Who Love Sailing. (http://www.jboats.com/)

C&C was a Canadian company that operated until the early 90s. Great racer/cruisers. May not be many in Europe.

Re: Varianta 37 - vs Hanse vs Beneteau Oceanis?

Look for a J37 used, J112E new. C&C 34+ or 37+. If money is not an issue, the X Yachts.
I routinely pass Oceanis series boats in my C&C 35. If you are looking for performance, look elsewhere.

Re: Varianta 37 - vs Hanse vs Beneteau Oceanis?

It has very little storage. In Europe buyers add the cabinetry needed to make the boat practical, but that adds weight that has been stripped out. The Oceanis series has no appeal to me, but I look...

Re: VOR "Chinese gybe"

Canting keel uses a hydraulic pump to move the keel to windward to increase righting moment. If there is an accidental gybe, the keel is pointing straight down, so the boat will not right itself...
