VHF Remote Control

Hi,

I'm about to install a SH RAM3 VHF remote control unit in my Pearson 28, and trying to figure out the best location for it near the helm. The pedestal is too narrow, so the most convenient...

Re: Shaft Through-hull Leak

Great to meet another p28-2 owner!

Mine is the shoal draft version, which may have a different log arrangement.
It's out of the water now, and looking from the outside confirms it's a...

Re: Shaft Through-hull Leak

Nice to see another P28-2 owner!

Mine is the shoal draft version, and the hull design suggests the through hull is original, though you're absolutely right that the gobs of sealant suggest a bad...

Re: Shaft Through-hull Leak

You're spot on - I caught a line in the prop about a year an half ago, which probably has something to do with this. (Although the gobs of caulk were there since I got the boat 10 years ago, perhaps...

Re: Shaft Through-hull Leak

Sorry about the long delay. I had to go out of town (only to find things in much worse condition when I got back...)

The leak is coming from the area that the light is falling on right below the...

Re: Shaft Through-hull Leak

Thanks for the quick responses; I'll take some photos this aft. It is indeed the shaft log (thanks for the correction); the water seems to be seeping in trough the sealant around it but it's not easy...

Shaft Through-hull Leak

Hi,

I recently discovered that the prop shaft though-hull in my Pearson 28 was leaking. I initially though it was the Dry-Seal installed three years ago, but upon further investigation realized...

Rub Rail Replacement

The rub rail on my 1986 Pearson 28-2 has become brittle over the years and a couple of of feet have chipped off after encountering some overly aggressive docks..

It's clear that it needs...

Fixed!

Thanks for all the info and suggestions.

It ended up being much simpler than I thought: the cable to the S terminal of the solenoid got disconnected. It was probably loose for a long time and...

Engine Failure After Line Caught in Prop

Title says it all: I finally managed to catch a line in my prop.. Unfortunately this was a pretty hefty dock line, and the engine was in full throttle - it summarily stopped within a second or two...

Does anyone use plexiglass boards? Of course they don't offer privacy, but in my case I actually want visibility in/out of the cabin in bad weather (I often sail with my 6 YO boy).
I'm more...

Strange Leak

I have a Yanmar 2GM20 on my Pearson 28, which has been working fairly well for the three years I owned the boat. It initially had a leaking water pump which I replaced last year. I then noticed it...
