Re: DIY - discussion on building a DIY hookah diving compressor

Hit a nerve, did I? Funny how the guy who feels the need to make sure everybody else knows what an expert he is is the one accusing others of having a chip on their shoulder. ...

Re: DIY - discussion on building a DIY hookah diving compressor

As someone who earns his living with one, I have "cobbed up" many hookah systems. I have also owned commercially available hookahs, including Brownie's. And I can tell you that I can easily put...

Re: Copper+epoxy???

Honestly, if ABC 3 actually provides 5 years of good performance in a high fouling region, it would probably have to be considered the most effective copper-based anti fouling paint in the world. For...

Re: Copper+epoxy???

I can't give you any info on that product. I have never come across a boat that uses it.

Re: Copper+epoxy???

George, I only ever recommend two anti fouling paints:

Pettit Trinidad (hard)
Interlux Micron 66 (ablative)

All other products run a distant second at best, IMHO.

Re: Copper+epoxy???

It was only clear because I took the time to look at your location. Otherwise you threw that info out there as if you did your boating in a more typical location and fouling condition. Alaska can...

Re: Copper+epoxy???

It's one thing to get good anti fouling performance from a kitchen-sink copper-loaded epoxy in Alaska and quite another to get it in the Southeast or Bahamas, where the OP is.

Re: Plans To Redevelop Alameda Marina In The Works

BTW- nobody is suggesting you post your real name and address in an anti-redevelopment rant all over the internet. What is being suggested is that you write letters to the Alameda city council.

Re: Plans To Redevelop Alameda Marina In The Works

Having personally spoken with Brock De Lappe within an hour of the news breaking, I can assure you it is all fact.

But you sit on your hands all you like. The rest of us will do the heavy lifting...

Re: Plans To Redevelop Alameda Marina In The Works

1.- A letter written to the mayor or council member is not going to end up in the hands of marina management.

2.- Do you believe for a minute that Bill Poland is on cozy speaking terms with the...

Re: Plans To Redevelop Alameda Marina In The Works

I spoke at length with Brock about this situation last Friday. He confirmed that elected Alameda officials are not on board with the plans that Poland has thus far put forth, which is why it is...

Re: Plans To Redevelop Alameda Marina In The Works

This just in from another forum:

We have just learned that Sean Svendsen from Alameda Marina has been forced to resign and the Harbormaster, Brock Delappe has been terminated from duties.

Re: Folding Prop: How do I remove?

BTW- all of the above is also quite easily done underwater by a properly equipped diver. FYI.

Re: Ghost pepper & bottom paint

If you do your boating in California (especially Southern California), you are likely familiar with efforts to reduce copper loading in our coastal waterways. In fact, we can all look forward to less...

Re: Ghost pepper & bottom paint

The one marine professional who should be qualified to give you the straight dope about anti fouling paint is your hull cleaner. And if yours is advocating for wive's-tale, kitchen-sink additives for...

Re: Pearson Triton

Not that it's important or anything- but yours was the first post in this thread since 2009. The OP hasn't checked in to this forum in a year and a half.

Re: Bronze prop pitting filing

When you throw the prop out of balance by half-assing a repair, I wonder how much of a happy medium you will consider it to be.

Re: Bronze prop pitting filing

The pitting is relatively unsubstantial. If sending the prop to Seattle isn't feasible, I suggest you do nothing, as a DIY repair might do more harm than good, balance-wise. As far as the anode goes,...

Re: Non active zinc suddenly VERY active.

Look chief, you have shown time and again in this thread that you have little grasp of the issues being discussed. Your last post bears this out- you keep talking about being in a "hot marina" but it...
