Re: Keel Locking Bolt Problem

Well, if there wasn't a hole, I wouldn't be able to put the bolt through the hole when the keel was fully down. However, when the keel is fully down (or what appears to be fully down), the bolt will...

Re: Companionway Hatch Slides Tight?

Yes, this is correct. Then, there are hand rails fastened just above this. The rail above the hatch (the "L" shaped one) is fastened with two screws into the deck, with nuts underneath, in the cabin....

Re: Companionway Hatch Slides Tight?

CaptainForce:

If I push up from underneath like you suggested, it doesn't really have room to move upward. The thing is, this is really strange, because I sanded down the rails, so, if anything,...

Re: Keel winch woes. Is this one good?

sealover,

Did you have to remove the keel to do this? I have a V17, and I'd like to replace the keel winch with the one you purchased (I actually live less than a mile from the Northern Tool and...

Question Keel Locking Bolt Problem

Companionway Hatch Slides Tight?

I refinished the wood rails, including the railing covering the companionway hatch, on my Venture 17. I used tung oil + a poly gel topcoat on it, which makes the wood shine like it's new. It looks...

Re: Bow connector for forestay?

Thanks, Jim.

Wow. That second one is super pricey. :)

Would the first one you posted be placed on the deck, or is it a through-deck setup? I could back it with a backing plate underneath the...

Bow connector for forestay?

Hello -

I have the following situation on the bow of my V17 (see image). The forward eyelet is used to attach the forestay to the deck. I think the previous owner put this in, and he used it for a...

Re: Venture 17 Restoration Project for Beginners

Also, I plan to submit my pictures on Flickr. I can't post links yet, unfortunately, since I'm new to this forum, but my flickr username is 'jwir3'.

Venture 17 Restoration Project for Beginners

Hi There -

I'm fairly new to boat ownership and restoration. My wife and I purchased a Venture 17 from a local dealer, and we love the little boat. It's sailable, but ideally we'd like to do a bit...
