Re: What's a cutter rigged ketch? And a slutter?

I don't suppose Wild Horses is the same yacht that appears frequently tied up at the "guest" dock in Eagle Harbor now is it?

Android apps with BVI charts?

I can't for the life of me find an android app with BVI charts for a reasonable price. Does one exist? Everyone seems to point to Navionics Marine and Lakes for Carribean. Its $55, which I'm ok with,...

Re: Don't have to be rich to sail

You don't even have to own a boat to sail frequently. I'm in a sailing club in the PNW and my sailing habit costs about the same as monthly moorage for both my wife and I, but I don't have to buy a...

Re: Seattle Boat Show for sailors?

I went today. The stadium had some Beneteaus, J-Boats, and dingy sailors. The Oceanis 38 is sexy as hell. That was worth checking out.

On Lake Union, there's a Blue Jacket, Island Packet, some...

Re: One Last "All is Lost " thread

I find the criticisms of this film really frustrating and short sighted. The film takes place on a sailboat. But the film is not about sailing. It's a really good movie if you can wrap your head...

Re: Do you wear a life jacket?

I think you're supposed to attach your harness in such a way that you don't exit the boat ever.

I sail in the Puget Sound, and as has been mentioned over and over, its super cold year-round. My...

Re: Do I have to know swimming to sail?

Get a comfortable type v inflatable pfd with a built in harness. You'll never need to swim. Though if you want to have more fun in the caribbean it helps to know how.

Re: Music for sailing: what floats your boat?

I've been a musician for over 25 years. I've been in 6 bands, played about 300 live shows. Rock, Metal, Folk, all of the above. Music means the world to me. And when I'm sailing, all I want to hear...

Booze, PFDs and Sailing with non-sailor friends

Saw a thread recently in the sailing club from a skipper who runs a booze-free boat for safety reasons. They won't allow drinking until the boat is anchored or docked. I've also gone sailing with...

Re: Best sailing blogs of 2014

I have a pictures-only sailing blog. Would hardly classify it as "best" or even "meh" but it's there. Not having to think of things to write makes it easier for me to keep posting to it.

Re: Near disasterous first sail

We do the same and write it down in our google doc that also keeps track of how much our sailing habit costs so in we'll know over time if getting a boat is cheaper than bareboating :)
