Whether it was a flare or a tin whisker, the result was the same - satellite failures. CN provides a backup.

I am also fond of Royce's Sailing Illustrated. There is an Anniversary Edition out now, as well as a newer version. They are diverse in the material covered and they are conveniently sized.
