Re: Husband fell in love with an 1978 Ericson Mark II 35.5

Love is fun! I sail every week with gas in my boat, no choice with an outboard. If gas was an auto fail then lots of boats wouldn't be out there making people happy. Now having said that...

Re: New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

Thanks for that great post Chef! You are an inspiration to me especially with my daughters and that a Tartan 37 may have just popped up on my purchase radar for boat shopping this weekend. Seems...

Re: So where the heck do you shower???

It must be warm where all you sail. The suggestion of standing on deck for a shower up here wouldn't go over so well on most days. Well, maybe like 5 days outta the year.

On the other hand,...

Re: Just saw a gorgeous S2, 9.2A

I would second that Nancy. We bought a 25 last year and it was really the only option at the time. But what it really did show us was that we wanted a bigger boat for the kids on our Alaska waters....

Re: Suggestions for 28-32 cruiser?

Welcome to Sailnet! Enjoy your classes and have a great time. My wife and I did it 4 years ago and it has been a blast.

As far as the perfect boat and what we want, I am so glad we didn't run...

Re: Advice For Good Boat To Learn On

Go let your heart lead the way. (Oh and do exactly as Zed says and take tons of pics so we can help you take a look).

And I also agree on the sails, at this size, age and price, condition of...

Re: We have fallen for the Cheoy Lee 40 Offshore

From a sales standpoint it just makes no sense sometimes. For example, instead of talking to him and becoming more enthralled with the boat, I went looking on YW again and found something even more...

Re: anchor tips to get it to catch?

It was only a matter of time wasn't it. I hope this was a internet attempt at sarcasm, but more likely it was a typical attack on someone looking for help.

Good for the OP to come looking for...

Re: Advice For Good Boat To Learn On

This is really a great point. We bought the Mac 25 and there are TONS of them out there. Even a couple on our lake in Alaska no less. Everything we wanted to do to upgrade it had already been...

Re: Advice For Good Boat To Learn On

Pricing on boats will be all over the place. It is one of the frustrating things shopping but it has a good reason. Maintenance is more important than anything on these older boats. We just bought...

Re: Depth finder

I have a fish finder and it is accurate for depth on our lake and in the deep blue as well. IE: readings match what the charts say and what is easily visually confirmed with anchor and eyes. Can't...

Re: Outhaul repair/replacement

Try Grainger. They have wire, rope and other sheaves from Ronstan and other vendors. After trying to find them myself at sailing shops like WM with no luck, they had everything I needed for 5 bucks...

Re: Never Buy a New Hanse

Faster,

Flicker does not allow this as photobucket does. If you just try to use the default link it fails. Flicker wants you to include a link back to the file on flicker or it is technically...

Re: Dock or Dry Dock I can't make up my mind

The dock would be very nice and it is what we did this past summer for our trailer sailer and will again this coming year. But..., if I could save 1K by dropping it into the water (rig already up) I...

Re: What is this?

Re: Sailing Product Research

Re: Pictures: Those perfect moments

Here is my picture perfect moments from this weekend. I was out all day with the family sailing on our new boat in the rain and my wife had to go home for some studying. I decided to stay the night...
