on the dodger design: how about ā la Van De Stadt (http://stadtdesign.com/) style? Maybe that of Samoa (http://stadtdesign.com/designs/stock_plans_sail/samoa_47/1)?

Thanks for the input guys, unfortunately for multi-week passages in the PNW (where I mostly sail) a hard dodger is a safety necessity. It just gets too cold even though we wear Mustang GoreTex...
