Re: Best Route from Mahattan to LI Sound

Note also that the chart for the East River has a note to the effect that you cannot transit the west passage by Roosevelt Island when the UN General Assembly is in session (an anti-terrorism rule, I...

Re: Is this a real Hinckley?

Although OCY is no longer in business, Hank Hinckley is still around, and maintains a website that tells something about the OCs.

Here is the link: HANK HINCKLEY'S BOATS...

Re: Biggest boat you an comfortably single hand?

Recall reading about a French fellow -- forget his name -- some 30 or more years back who sailed in the OSTAR (single-handed across the Atlantic) in a 135 foot 3-master. Rigged as if with 3 genoas,...

Re: Pearson Triton Vs. Alberg 30

Agree Triton is pretty small for extended cruising. Had one some years back & loved it, but the galley left a lot to be desired even along-shore cruising. Can't quite imagine trying to cook...

Boatsense Solutions remote monitor

Has anyone had direct experience with this product? It sounds great: if water rises in the bilge, or your battery is low, or up to 3 other things you rig it for happens (break-in, e.g.), it texts up...

Re: DYI Electronic Flood Alarm & Pump Switch

Has anyone had actual experience with the Boatsense monitor? I love the idea of it: if water is rising in your bilge, or your battery is low, or any of up to 3 other things sets it off, it texts up...

I own an OC42 and would generally agree that they are very fine boats but perhaps not QUITE a "true Hinckley," mainly in the level of finish. Solid as a rock, though. The blood-relationship is...

I should add: 42 foot sloop, 5'8" draft, 12 foot beam; ideally not too far from open ocean. Might also consider a condo with deeded dockage included if anyoe has any inspiration along that line.

Living aboard in Florida

Flute stopper
