Re: Lets have a chat about multis.

Hmmmm.. I think that assertion is faulty, based on the simple observation of all the very expensive monos that exist. Presumably, every $250-$500K+ mono is owned by a person that could have afforded...

Re: If you owned more than one sail boat in your life time.

Well, sorry about the bad experience, which sounds like you learned something from.

IMO the problem wasn't so much the boat itself - your mistake was buying a 40' J-Boat as a first boat (!!),...

Re: New Sails VS Used Sails

Ugh... really?

Aren't we already plagued by corporate commercialization enough in every other aspect of our lives? Sure new sails are certainly nice, but I really don't want to be a floating...

Re: Is the sailboat market really this bad?

I'm always encouraged when I come to this forum and still see people new to sailing expressing interest in learning & getting a boat. It's nice to see the (hobby? pastime? sport? lifestyle?)...

Re: O'Day 20 vs DS2

I have a DS2. It's a fun boat, stout, very stable and forgiving for a CB dinghy. I think you'd really have to try hard or screw up very badly to capsize it, even single-handed. Rigging isn't bad...

Re: Hello

Welcome! Good move with the ASA class. I too learned to sail as an adult by taking a week-long introductory class, 20-something years ago. Some folks are apparently fortunate enough to have been...

Re: First Boat Help

How about some more details & pics? All I see is one pic of what appears to be a gouge in the topsides gelcoat. Is it all the way through to the cloth laminate? Any cracks? Can you see the INSIDE...

Re: New to sailing

The boom will be wherever it ends up with the the mainsail fully hoisted, then use the downhaul to pull down slightly on the boom to tension the luff. What Schnool said above.

Most likely, the...

Re: Oh No! What happened to CNCPHOTOALBUM.COM?

Hope Stu's OK! Dog, I just joined your FB group.

I am in New England. My previous boat was in CT, but the C&C is going to end up on the MA north shore because it's closer to home & work. Right...

Re: Delurking - have a boat again!

The lakes are indeed beautiful, butnfortunately, bringing her to the east coast on her own bottom is not under consideration. She is presently close to the entrance of the Erie Canal, but I'm not...

Re: Stuck on the hard and wanted to say hi.

Greetings Kevin! Nice boat! :grin

Just wanted to let you know you're definitely not alone in your stuck-on-the-hard plight.

My new baby, a '90 C&C 34+ which I just bought last week, is going...

Delurking - have a boat again!

So I've mostly been lurking here for a few years, having sold our last boat far too long ago. Finally, I am once again owned by a boat, and am thus re-entering the fray :grin

Alas, it won't be...

Re: New sailor/new boat

Congrats on the buy!

Now, I don't mean to pee in your cornflakes, but by the nature of your questions I'd be a bit concerned about your maiden voyage / delivery plans.

Download OpenCPN and...

Re: New sailboat owner

Congrats! Nothing like the feeling of newboatownerdom!

You will almost certainly need a long shaft outboard, and a pivoting mount to raise it up out of the water. No matter what you do, an...

Oh No! What happened to CNCPHOTOALBUM.COM?

Anybody know what happened to the cncphotoalbum.com mailing list website for C&C owners? It appears that it went down yesterday. I'm in a bit of a panic because I just bought a C&C and am in dire...

Re: Good Small Boat for Older, Fatter Woman to learn on

It is possible to get out on the water in a decent boat for your $1500 target. Just last summer I picked up an early 80's 17' O'Day Daysailer II for $1000 even, including a very decent trailer that...

Re: Anybody ever go too big?

My thought on boat size: the best boat is the smallest boat that will satisfy your minimal core requirements (the problem there being defining what is a "core requirement"), and type of sailing...

Re: Market price means what?

To, "market price" is a snapshot-in-time thing, representing what someone would pay for a thing (in this case, a boat), if that thing were on the market right now.

If the best off an owner gets on...
