video quality and picture quality, GoPro is hard to beat for the price, I take mine diving, hiking, sailing and pretty much everywhere, it's compact and light, the only drawback I find is battery...

GoPro is a real solid camera, you can adjust the angle of the lens, but it still is a fairly wide angle, you can add an lcd screen on the back, as for the price, it ranges depending on the image...

some poles are much cheaper than that, but I think the high price is mainly due to the strength to weight ratio, and of course the fact that people don't usually buy them that often :)

from what I've heard, most people who do live aboard don't sail as much, it all depends on what you want from your boat, just a shelter from the elements or a fun ride

for smaller size am steel, I use a wire leader (for fishing, any length over 12 " is great, the longer the better) just fold the leader in half and insert it between the strands, makes a nice reverse...

My Olympic Dolphin 23 has such a motor well, I like it, it does shrink the cockpit a little, but it does make it harder for thieves to see the engine and the engine controls are right there with me...
