Parts for a Westerbeke 30 Rebuild

My 76 cal 34 has the original westerbeke 30 Diesel engine. I've pulled the engine and now I'm looking for a rebuild kit. What I've been told is it's a Perkins 4-91 engine with the westerbeke name....

I bought some at an RV store. It's very easy to work with compared to caulking/adhesive and faster to clean up. I bed my jib track today and I actually liked working with it. Reminds me of silly...

Butyl tape good or bad

I've read mainsails suggestion about bedding hardware with butyl tape. I've been getting mixed reviews at my local boat yard and club. Anyone actually used this stuff for bedding hardware.

Symmetrical,.... dousing will depend on the situation. I would like the option to douse in the cockpit if necessary.

Forgot to mention I did change the impeller on the raw water pump the next day. I found 3 fins broken off...all were still in the pump. I have considered a compression test. Going out today and run...

My engine still runs good for now. It starts easily when the temps outside are around 65-70 degrees and the power seems fine. Since I heard the slight miss when it was cold has made me apprehensive...

Were you able to still drive the boat? Just wondering if this will eventually not go into gear. Currently mine shifts and drives it just makes noise at low rmp while in gear. Thanks
