Re: top down

I have a Harken drum furler on my asym. I spliced a dyneema torsion line. Because it is not a continous line furler, I had to go to a REALLY small line (3 or 4 mm) to get enough turns on the drum...

Re: Thru Hull Fitting Questions

Are you mixing thread types? Do NOT put a tapered fitting onto a straight thread! You can't get enough turns (as you found out with #2) to get a good seal.

Avoid Oxford this weekend - 125 boats racing there.

Re: Tansient Docking in the Florida Keys??

I'm looking for places to dock/moor/anchor between Miami and Marathon in mid-October. I'm not a yacht club member, so Marathon YC is out. Other ideas?

Re: 2015 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Saturday went out in the afternoon with friends. Great wind, wine and company! Reached across the Bay and back hitting 7 knots at times, saw a gorgeous sunset and got back to the slip around 8:15.

Re: J-29 Spinnaker Setup

J 30 we have blocks aft and twings if needed. you probably don't need them and only need 3/16 inch sheets.

Re: mounting windows with Dow 795?

Use the 795 with a thinner 3M tape. Take pieces of cheap wood like furring strips and cut them to the proper length to wedge between the plastic and life lines to hold it all in place while it...

Re: West Marine

Luckily, Fawcetts is nearby, a block from a West store. West has longer hours, so if it is late and no ridiculously priced I'll go there, but otherwise I'll bypass West every time.

Re: Looking for a new slip for Fall

Check out places in Whitehall Bay and Mill Creek. There are smaller marinas in both as well as private docks that come up on craigslist. I doubt Casa Rio can handle your boat.

Re: Jib Sail Twist

Hudsonian is correct about adjusting to telltales. In heavy seas or wind you might want to open the slot by moving the car aft.

Garhauer makes great stuff at great prices.

Most people addressing this issue buy line with an amsteel/dyneema core and then strip the cover off the part they don't handle. might cost a little more.

Re: Chesapeake Bay Eats

Pizza at Vin 909 is outstanding!

For a more formal dinner we go to Carroll's Creek. Great food, interesting wine list that has a lot of choices in wines and prices and generally very good service.
