Sorry I meant it gets indirect sun. Also the white was not quite white enough to get a close match so I had sprayed the outside of the box with Krylon plastic paint. so UV should not be a problem

I believe butyl is the way to go. The only thing you have to worry about is water getting into the deck thru the screw holes. Make sure they are chamfered and use lots of butyl.

Our Ticon 30 had carpeting glued pretty well through out the cabin when it was built. We found "Marine Carpet" at Home Depot ( US) It was near identical to the original and pretty reasonable.
