Sad.
I took basic keelboat there many moons ago. And always a beautiful sight seeing their j24s in the harbor with the statue of liberty as a backdrop.

Re: Caribbean day sail rentals

I'm in turks and caicos right now and just took out a Hobie cat for an hour for the first time ever. I know it's not what you have in mind. But I was just so happy to get my sailing fix today.... I...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

I was wondering when you were going to jump on the no-backstay rig design!

I like those Js very much, but they are too much boat for me. I was actually looking for a J35 in good condition,...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

You could, unless you have a full complement of non-crewing family or the crew you do have is busy talking to their offices on their cell phones. Now you don't have to ask them to move out of the...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

Well, my supermodel girlfriends like it when they can strut right out from the cabin in their teeny tiny thongs and walk right onto the swim platform without bumping into a steering pedestal.;)

Re: Why are wheels so big?

Jon,
just to follow up about sheets leading to clutches instead of directly to a winch...

The jib sheet will almost always have the clutch open and feed directly to the winch on the low side...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

Don't be so quick to knock that Jeanneau. The german main sheeting and jib sheets are routed to the winches and rope clutches outside each wheel. The winches are perfectly placed so that either the...

This guy looks pretty comfy on this new Jeanneau 349. Note there is no backstay. http://blog.choose-your-boat.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Sun-Odyssey-349-22-Large.jpg
