Re: 6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line - End of the story

Finally got the thing fixed. The problem was the male connector on the fuel line at the engine. Replaced it and now the motor works fine. I could not find any cracks or imperfections on the old...

Re: Is 12 hp adequate hp on a P27?

Thanks for the heads up on the P30 but I'm still set on the 27.

Forgot to update you folks on the 27 we looked at in April. The boat was still on the hard. When we got there the owner said he...

Re: 6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line

I've made progress. I replaced the fuel hose, bulb and end connectors. That didn't work so I replaced the fuel line in the engine from the fuel hose connector to the fuel filter. Now I can idle...

Re: 6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line

Update on today's effort.
Tried to purchase a quick connector for the outboard end of the fuel supply hose at West Marine but they did not have anything that would work on a Nissan. While at the...

Re: 6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line

Capta:
I'll take off the tape & get some shellac. I guess the gas just dissolves the tape?
I replaced the fuel lines on either side of the bulb. The next thing I'm going to do is replace the quick...

Re: 6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line

Rich:
I'll check the tank vent but I don't suspect it is the problem. My external tank has a knob on the top of the filler cap and I believe that when loosened, it directly allows air to enter the...

6hp Nissan outboard leaks air into fuel line

I have a 4 stroke, 6hp Nissan outboard that stalls out at low RPMs. The cause is an air bubble that grows within the fuel filter. When the bubble gets so large that it only touches the bottom of the...

Re: Looking for P27. Are there other email lists for Pearson?

Didn't realize that the seats were the same. I still would like to go with the 27 since I'd like the shallower draft. Thanks for information though.

Re: Looking for P27. Are there other email lists for Pearson?

Hello Sliclady, Unfortunately you are just too far away for me to consider it.
Alex - The P27 is the right sized boat for me. Also, the cockpit seating is very ergonomically designed/shaped and...

Re: Is 12 hp adequate hp on a P27?

OK. I won't shy away from the 12 - now just need the opportunity to see the boat. The present owner may not be able to show it to me until after another potential buyer sees it. I'll let you know... ...

Re: Is 12 hp adequate hp on a P27?

Apparently the engine is a Universal 12 but only generates 10 hp. Don't really understand that but have seen references to that on-line and also spoke with a prior Pearson salesman who said the same...

Is 12 hp adequate hp on a P27?

I'm going to look at a Pearson 27 with a 12 horse power Universal engine. I will sail the boat on Buzzards Bay, MA where there is considerable current and chop. Can this engine push the boat at or...

Re: Looking for P27. Are there other email lists for Pearson?

I'd look at the one in Pultneyville if getting it back here wouldn't be such a hassle. As for the other boat - what can you say?

Re: Looking for P27. Are there other email lists for Pearson?

If I could convince my marina that the boat was only 27 feet long, then I'd be interested. Thanks for the offer though :)

Looking for P27. Are there other email lists for Pearson?

Hi All,
About 10 years ago I was looking for a Pearson 27. Got waylaid by a Nonsuch 26 and Compac 19. Now I'm again looking for a Pearson 27. Do you know of any boats out there? Also, are there...

Re: End of season tipping

What about the launch drivers that take me out to my mooring? The launch is included in my marina fees. My boat is about 100 feet off the gas dock so I haven't gotten to know the drivers other than...

Re: Replacement batten selection...

I just bought battens for my Compac 19. My batten pockets are about the same dimensions you describe. The correct size for me were 5/8" wide (that was what was supplied with the boat). I bought my...

Re: 10' Porta Boat For Dinghy?

I used an 8' porta bote as a dingy for my 26' Nonsuch. It worked fine. We were able to transport 2 people, 2 folding bikes, oars, life jackets, gas tank, garbage, 5 gallon water container and other...

Re: What shim material to use between the transom & motor mount?

FinallySailing - I briefly looked around on-line. Some cutting board labels specify polyethelene but most do not. Any additional detail may say antimicrobial.

Minnewaska - I'll do more looking...

Re: What shim material to use between the transom & motor mount?

How will the UHMWPE boards be labelled? I'm guessing that the packaging will just say something like durable, sanitary plastic.

Re: What shim material to use between the transom & motor mount?

I read somewhere that there are interior and exterior grades of UHMWPE. That interior grades degrade in sunlight. Have you heard anything of the sort? Any way for us simple folk to differentiate...

What shim material to use between the transom & motor mount?

Here's my project. My boat is a Compac 19. It presently has a Garelick motor mount. The problem is that I can't get the mount in the full up position since the handle of the mount hits the rubrail....

Re: Do I need to protect areas scratched on mast?

OK. You've convinced me to use a metal compression tube rather than nylon. I'll get more opinions about the mast integrity too.

Re: Do I need to protect areas scratched on mast?

No that's not a weld. Just some cellophane wrapped around the mast. As far as a compression tube, I was planning to use a nylon bushing. Drill one of the holes wide enough to accommodate the outside...
