Actually, in San Diego (the only area I know anything about), there is no anchoring, but there are a number of mooring fields, with rates averaging around $150 per month. All the moorings in the bay...

We chartered with them on our first (and to date only) time last June/July. They were very prompt the two times we called for help - once for the dinghy outboard, which wouldn't start the first time...
