Re: Protecting Tools

I have some tools that are showing corrosion too. Would zip lock bags help?

Re: Maiden Voyage Trip Report - A 23-hour tour!

Sometimes this time of year, when the water is cooler, the "smoke" may be steam/condensation from the two temperatures combining - hot wet exhaust and cold ambient water.

Re: What the heck is this?

I think that the sea-kindliness rating for this craft would be a negative number. Talk about sea sickness!

Re: Annapolis boat show

Middletons has a good raw bar. The restaurant's other fare is mediocre in my opinion.

Another good restaurant that I neglected to mention earlier is Harry Brownes on State Circle.

What the heck is this?

Bientôt au port 2 - YouTube

Does anyone speak French? Is this an actual vessel or a scene from All Is Lost?

Re: Annapolis boat show

Some better restaurants (less of a tourist trap) as you walk up Main St. To the Capitol building. Osteria, Joss, Level, Cafe Normandie.

Re: When Do You Get Off?

This is a good thread. As someone that sails with children, I think that I am more likely to get off the boat than go forward in a chancy situation.

From the title, I thought this thread was...

Re: Bilge cleaner - homemade or cheap substitute

Some of the things mentioned in this thread might be great bilge cleaners, but are not good for the environment and should not be pumped overboard. I don't think that phosphorous based detergents...

Re: Star-Spangled Spectacular Air Show

We could hear the fireworks all the way in Severna Park! We did make it to the harbor for the Blue Angels. Good show. Anchored right off of Dundalk.

Re: sliding helm seat?

Why not put Lift-Dot type snaps (or similar) on the cushions to keep them in place? Maybe just one in each corner. I'm thinking of doing this, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has.

I'm also...

Re: Nice Vacuum Cleaner

I have a small Black and Decker 12v DC for when I'm on the mooring, and a small ORECK for when I have AC. Are you guys using an inverter to power your AC vac, or just using it at the dock? Is there a...

Re: how do you remove old boat lettering

I think that before you bring out the heat gun or solvents you should just try to see if the vinyl will pull up relatively on its own. Use a plastic razor blade tool. Even vinyl that has been on for...

Re: Before and After Photos - Show Us!

Nice top sides. Like the gold cut. Some bottom jobs are so nice you wish you could heel hard all the time.

Replacing or refurbishing portlights P35

Has anyone had any experiences replacing or rehabbing the long fixed portlights on a Pearson 35 (mine is a 1979).

Mine are leaking at the outer gasket seals and at the window glazing.

Re: Looking for 36-40', plus sized cockpit

I took our Pearson 35 and moved the aft traveler to a bridge traveler over the companionway. The 9' cockpit is now fully open and the mainsheets are away from my kids. The sheets on the bridge...

Re: Jellyfish west/rhode river?

The bay could use a few more angry curmudgeons that remember the old days. I'm not that old, but it's good to understand where we've been and where we're going.

Re: As long as the boat is out of the water . . .

I would think you really need an anti fouling paint on a freshwater lake. If you are down to Gelcoat algae can just we scrubbed when you haul or in the water. Others might have a different opinion.

Re: Bottom Paint Removal - Scraping or Chemical?

I'm thinking of soda blasting on my next winter haul out. Would there be any caveats to soda blasting in the Fall and then painting in the Spring?

Re: Looking for small, affordable printer for on the boat

I've thought about a laser printer on the boat, but I think the salt air and the occasional high cabin heat (90+) would fry the unit.
