Re: Propane solenoid valve hot

I know the Trident solenoids are prone to failure. You might want to pick up an AFC 151 as favored by Maine Sail.

Here they are under $25

Re: what boat to buy help please

Why under 31 foot, is there a requirement where you keep your boat now? The real question is what is your budget? I would have to say off the top of my head, Cape Dory, Bristol Channel Cutter. But...

Re: Rendering Videos on-board.

The way I see it is your boat needs a ton of work, as all boats do. Just fix the boat, get a go pro, (or even a gopro copy) and have fun. Unless you are really planning on shooting something that you...

Re: Bristol 34 - blue water boat?

I think we agree, you just said it better, and with more detail. But it is good to know you think the 34 is such a good sailor. I think I may be making a phone call, though I am taking the kids on...

Re: Bristol 34 - blue water boat?

I prefer them aft as well, much better for single handing, but not the end of the world either. My concern would be if the boom was properly reinforced to handle the stress of mid boom. I think the...

Re: Bristol 34 - blue water boat?

From my understanding the build quality of the "later" boats seem to be much better. There seems to be three phases of the company, first the full keel/attached rudder, then they went to a fin...

Re: Downsizing to 25' to 30'

Keep in mind you will likely take a bit of a bath (if you want to sell quickly and not have 2 boats) on selling your current boat, then buy a boat that will likely need a few thousand to be put into...

Re: low alternator output current

Genuine dealz online can make up the cables to your measurements. Including crimps, they use a heavy duty crimper and do a lot of them so you know it is done right. I would suggest going to the...

Re: Honda eu2000i and air conditioning

You actually saw one? I asked the manager at my local store and he kind of laughed and said they have had a few on there standing order since released but have yet to see one. He suggested ordering...

Re: has anyone used an RV propane stove on a boat

If the refrigerator is propane powered it will not work in a mono-hull, as when you heel over the draft up the chimney will not work. They are used on Gemini catamarans (catamarans heel much less)...

Re: Florida is at it again

So what you are saying is allow them to sink and become navigation hazards? Oh and as a side bar, it gives the land owners the excuse to ban all anchoring? As that is the way it is going. These are...

Re: Vote for Bob Shepton

I was amazed at what I read about him. I enjoy the cold more than most but BURRRRRR. I shiver just looking at the photos. Hey bet he has no trouble finding places to sail alone. To sail is to be a...

Re: Florida is at it again

To me the issues is simple, if the boat does not have a current registration/documentation, then the owner is fined and required to move the boat. If they refuse to move the boat, the local authority...

Re: Computer Upgrade

I have set a few MythTV servers up but have always been on Linux. Really easy, but involved. You might want to try XMBC or MediaPortal. Funny thing is I was never able to get Media Player to work...

Re: Buying a New Stove

The infrared broiler is what would likely swing me to the Force 10. I had one in my old house and loved the very high and even heat it provided, but am not sure if it is really that good and enough...

Re: Looking to buy 34'

One other thing to look into is slip/mooring. While it seems crazy to look for one before the boat, what do you do when you find "the" boat and buy it and have no place to put it! That transient slip...

Re: Computer Upgrade

I love Linux and have tried most of the major platforms but keep going back to Windows. I may try again and use a virtual machine to run Photoshop in, but the Gimp just does not do it for me.

Re: Looking to buy 34'

I would suggest going out getting on boats, with your spouse and report back with what you find that you like. Most any newish production boat is going to be similar to any other, with some...
