Re: Labor Day Weekend?

I'm conflicted about what to do as well. Its my club, but I've got guests for the weekend and won't be joining the club activities. I really want to go someplace we can have some shoreside...

Re: Labor Day Weekend?

If it helps anyone's planning, I can report that a local club is heading to San Domingo Creek with a a dozen boats or more. Might be pretty crowded at the back door to St Michaels.

Re: Labor Day Weekend?

Yeah the moorings below the bridge are for "bigger" boats up to whatever the limit is but over 40 some odd feet.

The ones to Starboard just past the bridge are limited to boats under 35 feet. ...

Re: Labor Day Weekend?

Odds of getting a mooring at Naptown?

Odds of finding room to anchor in San...

Re: Jellyfish west/rhode river?

We're also struggling with an itinerary for the long weekend. We haven't been on the boat near as much as we'd like this year so are bound and determined to head out somewhere.

We'll have one of...

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

Hi Russ, I noticed that also and was able to see your track all the way through by selecting both "Midnight Breezes". The track from Promise doesn't pick up until down past Herring Bay.

Our...

Re: Bow pulpit smashed &c.: Annapolis repair yard recommendations please

I agree that it seems that might be a candidate to be fixed where it is but if if has to go to the yard, I think the other fellows insurance should pick up the tab to get it there if that means a tow...

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Go Old Shoes!

Good meeting you in St. Mary's.

Hope you have a great trip. I'm still thinking maybe to try a Delmarva this year. Some of my Gov Cup crew would be up for it.

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

Really gotta see the replay on this one. I was there and have no idea what happened. lol

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

Its updated now - doesn't coincide with other forcasts I'm consulting. Shows winds out of the north at the start clocking to easterly later than my other sources which show it having clocked...

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

I wish I'd spent more time figuring out how close-winded I could get with the Flasher. Looks like the sooner I can get the asym up the better. I was more focused seeing exactly how deep we could go...

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

Yeah, I hear ya' on the forecast but I was refering to the overall vibe I've gotten this year. Nearly zero response from my club board request for crew this year was unexpected and it took a while...

Re: Crew wanted for Gov Cup Ches Bay MD

Oh, we already started. Sent him up the mast 10 minutes after he set foot on the boat. :laugher

Once again I've manage to pull together a crew that I would willingly sail overnight with. That...

Re: Solo Climbing the Mast- Block and Tackle

I have a similar situation and what we do is attach the safety line using a caribiner. When you reach the spreader, the safety line is unclipped then quickly clipped in above the spreader. The...

Re: Daytime anchor ball

I've seen the ball used exactly once in my meanderings around the Chesapeake Bay. It was on a 100+ foot sailing vessel that very clearly had professional crew catering to the clients every whim.

Are there brands besides the Mermaid folks would highly recommend?

The control unit on my AC/Reverse cycle heat unit was killed by lightning and rather than spend $800 on a repair, I was...

If the "LoCo" in your location means what I think, I'll have to buy you a beer in St. Mary's neighbor.

Re: Screwpile 2014

I understand Donnybrook is in for repairs and/or upgrades and won't be at the Cup, so I guess you are SOL.

Rude how these people schedule weddings without consulting the racing calendar first.

Re: Screwpile 2014

Good Luck!

Go Victoria!

Sorry we won't see you at Gov Cup this year. I just registered yesterday, but I honestly I wonder about the commitment of about 1/2 my crew. Hoping I'm not in a mad...

Re: Knapps Narrows depth?

Yes, the shoaling is on the west side of the bridge. The area I had problems was as I approached the red 4 after passing through the bridge.

I found passable water to my port side.

I was...

Well, he's got a point.

I ran aground in the exact spot he's describing week before last. Favor Starboard headed Bay to Choptank as soon as you make the turn or Port Choptank to Bay before you...

Re: Local Insurance rates/recommendations

Thanks Dave,

Unless I get some more feed back I'm leaning towards staying with my current agent/carrier. I currently have an agreed value of $70k which is more than the boat is worth in this...
