It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

First Time out under sail
I posted what a tough time I had my first trip out under motor not too long ago. Well I had the first time out under sail last weekend and the pain and suffering of motoring to new harbours and...

No Boom Vang?
Is it possible to not have a boom vang. I have a hunter 23 and the mast was replaced by a prior owner. The Mainsheet connects on the most aft 1/3 of the boom. I had it out sailing and it seemed to...

Small engine repair
Someone heard the prices that the local marine stores wanted per hour and wondered why a small engine repair shop couldn''t do the work on small outboards. Any thoughts?

Do you wax the non-skid suface?
I just washed and waxed my boat this weekend. By the way, I believe most "for-boat" items such as cleaners and waxes are overrated. Are they a necessity versus an auto item such as turtle wax. ...

Who makes the best outboard?
Apparently I may be in the market for a new outboard. Since I am learning, I can''t afford to be left on the seas with no emergency route home. I have a 5 hp Nissan that threw me a curve ball this...

Recommendations for Depth finder
I bought the piranha 3 and read the part about mounting it on the inside of the hull. I first placed it in water in front of the keel and tested the sensitivity. It was spectacular. I dried out...

Major Tuning the Rigging
I have a bad habit of digging into subjects and asking questions until I learn a little bit. I''ve asked so many people about this tuning that I have a basis for the original sail and I''ll read up...

FLushing an outboard
I have a Nissan 5 hp outboard and the anticavitation plate (as they call it) is vertically located in the fin above the foot of the motor. Those little muffs you buy to flush a motor out of water...

Hey You actually did make it make a lot of sense with the analogy of moving with the tide. If I am using GPS with the tide moving 5knot and the boat hull speed is 10knot and my GPS is showing 10...

Major Tuning the Rigging
Paulk,
Thanks, that is definitely the type answer I''m looking for. Now you said you put almost a foot of bend in the mast in heavy air, I would think that the top was forward and the curve is...

Will the boat swing in time?
Two questions from a rookie.... A tide range of 9 feet is incredible, does that happen much. Also a Boat that drafts 20 feet is very limited in which bay they can manuever isn''t it? How many boats...
