Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

I am a past member of the USCGA and I also only flew the national ensign and USGGA ensign on my personal boat and when on patrol the USCGA Operational ensign. When on a chartering vacation in the...

Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

That's a fairly good representation of the captain's hats in attendance.

Re: When Do You Get Off?

Maybe it's more like "when should you not get on"? Other than situations where you're not in control of your own destiny like newhaul, the damage control specialist in the navy, who is required to...

Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

When sailing in the BVI, flying a pirate flag is almost required. As far as the Skipper's hat, I was just at a concert by Yacht Rock Revue and you felt out of place if you weren't wearing one!

Re: My First Boat!

You lucky dog! I wish someone would give me a free boat!

Best of luck and however you refit the boat, make sure you do it the right way the first time. Remember, your life may depend on it.

Re: Mooring question

Been looking at anti-chafe gear and came across this:Sail Delmarva: Anti-Chafe Gear--D-I-Y Alternatives (http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/p/chafe-gear.html)

Looks like it will do the trick at a...

Re: Picking up a mooring single handed

Don't feel bad, you are not the only one it's happened to. On one overnight in Cane Garden Bay, I awoke sensing that something was not right since the movement of the boat seemed strange. Stuck my...

Re: Anyone ever buy bigger or new and regret it?

Which costs less in the long run? :D

We currently charter 39'-42' in the BVI but that's to accommodate the whole family on a one week vacation. Will eventually get into something in the low 30'...

Re: What's up at the Moorings?

Not going to defend Moorings but perspective does play a role. You mentioned that Bertha had just hit and I know what my pool looks like after an ordinary thunderstorm, so debris in the pool isn't...

Re: Chartering BVI? Stay far away from Conch Chrs

Our last 3 charters were with Sunsail and if you take into account their "reef week", early booking and previous client discounts, their rates are favorable for a pretty dependable boat in good...

Re: St. Thomas - Road Town Ferry Service

If you can't fly non-stop into St Thomas, was flying into Beef Island a viable alternative for you? That would take the ferry out of the equation. As previously mentioned, we used to take that...

Re: St. Thomas - Road Town Ferry Service

Sounds like Fast Ferry is the way to go. I'm trying not to over think this since in the Islands, anything can change at a moments notice. Much like American Airlines who already has changed flight...

St. Thomas - Road Town Ferry Service

Instead of flying directly into Beef Island as on our previous trips down to the BVI, we'll be flying into St Thomas our next one, it's about half the cost, including ferry service!

The next...

Re: BVI: Alternative to Full Provisioning

If your local library has them, loan it out, don't buy since there will be one on your Sunsail boat.
