Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

Minnewaska, it appears you have a double standard. As shown above you have admitted to trolling with the phrase 'let's stop' (a contraction of let us stop) as supported by the antecedent. However...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

No, I don't believe the language is parsed, intentionally or not. Introducing one means the introduction of the other. The phrase 'prohibit unreasonable search and seizure' could be substituted with...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

The word 'unreasonable' is a derivative of the word reason(able) as a metric. One cannot exist without the other whether explicit or implicit. It is logic and not a guess.

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

The fourth amendment is the determining agent of what is reasonable/unreasonable as it appears to be referred to in the opinion of the case cited above and not determined by the subsequent enacted...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

Can you show me where the terms reasonable/unreasonable are found in the document. Here is the link.

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

Interesting you would find people's anxiety and consternation a source of humour.

I should point out case law has also proved their claims, in some instances, right should you want to investigate....

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

Maybe you can help this 'uneducated' guy out because I do not know where you have gotten your definition. From what I have seen the USCG has been given the authority to search any US flagged boat....

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

I have read summaries of studies that I would consider stocastically relevant to my point but have not personally done a critical analysis of the pertinent data but I will leave the onus on you to...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

It appears from this thread one cannot film the USCG during a boarding nor is one allowed to observe a substantial portion of the search so I doubt your request can be met.

It also appears these...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

So, behaviour modification, though nothing illegal has occurred, is the answer to USCG profiling.

You are right, that is a radical idea.

Re: Raise the main sail while still at anchor

Should be no problem as long as you have a windlass. Raise the main and let the sheet out half way to the spreaders. Tack back and forth while taking in the slack on your rode after each tack.

Re: Moody 425 as a bluewater cruiser

I have Dixon designed Moody with the bolts recently replaced. It was done in the water and cost something less than $1200.

Re: wifi reception

The marina has been more than fair in other aspects so would not want to spoil that relationship. Thanks for the link RichH.

Re: How do you rig your courtesy flag?

There are pins that are spring loaded with one end to go around the line and loop pin on the other end for the flag.

Re: Sailing with excess brain power

Having raced for a few years with a crew that consisted of a neurosurgeon, a pancreatic surgeon, a dentist and a couple of engineers I can safely say we all have our moments of idiocy.

Re: I Paid a Dude. And I Liked It.

The person might not be rich relative to their neighbor but I guarantee that person is rich compared to most of the world. It is a point I try regularly to remind myself.

Re: Best of these Florida cities for sailing

I would think the further south you are the better for crossing the stream so Marathon would be a prime departure point. Cheers Gary

Re: Best of these Florida cities for sailing

I do like the "redneck riviera" due to the colourful water though not as popular as others as a boating destination. I think it would be nice to have the Bahamas nearby.

Re: Best inflatable pfd with harness.

Also have the spinlock deckvest. Do not like the leg straps as they slide down and then get caught on my hamstrings so I am stooped over until I can tend to it. Unfortunately it is a real nuisance...
