There is a few things that have not been mentioned here about welding stainless that may be valuable in the future. There are basically 2 grades of stainless used in marine applications, 316 and 304....

I believe that the 12 digit number will be on the transom, near the top, starboard side and usually half covered by a piece of trim, if it has one.

Need advice on non skid paint

The grit used by Interlux can be sanded off without much trouble, that is one of the reasons I used it on my boat. If you screw it up, you can just sand it off and try again.

I have been freezing bottled water and using them to keep the ice box cold. Since there is less surface are per volume than crushed ice, it melts much slower but doesn''t keep the box quite as cold....
