Re: Largest keelboat lauched/hauled by trailer?

I have a trailer transportable boat, a Nor'sea 27, but I have not attempted to launch/recover by a ramp at this time. I've only towed it a few times about 1hr each time and it does tow smoothly.

Re: Mixing teak and mahogany: how ugly?

If done right, the different tones of different wood can add some interest to a boat. I have a lot of teak on deck, but the rudder cheeks are mahogany (I think). I had sanded down the handrails...

Re: Sailing Magazines

I got a few magazines of CW, but seems too high end and flashy to me.

I subscribed to GOB from Annapolis last year and just renewed. I've also started a subscription to Wooden Boat that I find...

Re: Dear Annapolis...

Didn't they have the parking at the statium? I went to the show last year and the stadium parking and the shuttle to the show was very nice. Plenty of parking, didn't feel rushed in/around the...

Re: Weather Venting

On a beautiful day with good winds, I was going to take the wife out on her first sail. I go to turn the engine on and... Nothing.
This was 4th of July weekend.

So, because of dead batteries,...

Re: USCG Doc Renewal Fee

I've been hearing over the past 16yrs with the military, "we're going to be a paperless Army"...

I've yet to see the volume of paper used to go down. Actually, for some things, it has gone...

Re: Pacific Seacraft 63' ketch nears completion

No offense here. I love my tiller :D

I like that PSC, it seems to have a nice older look to it, until you get below the waterline. lol

While I like older / traditional looking boats more, I do...

Didn't see this posted here on SN yet. I just saw it on another forum.

Documentation renewal fee of $26 starting in Nov 2014.

She's a beauty. Easy to see why you love your job.

Fine ship you have there, Bob. Certainly a masterpiece.

Re: First look tomorrow

It all adds to the experience. Good luck with the search.

For my thoughts of your findings, I wonder if the engine turned, weather by the starter or by hand (not seized/frozen in place)

The...

Re: Ace Hardware Antifreeze deal

That may be the freeze point but it still won't expand until a lower temp. Of course, if it's diluted, then the freeze point will be even higher. I just ran 10.5 bottles of -50 through my engine...

Re: Safety briefing when boarding an unfamiliar boat.

Didn't see anything mentioned for knowing where the First Aid Kit is located. Not only that, going through it and seeing what it contains. Some kits could be small and only be a few bandages or more...

Re: Which ones have ship wheel/helm and no tiller?

I'd go with my own boat, a Nor'sea 27 aft-cockpit. It has a nice heavy tiller and built to live its life on the ocean. ;)

Best to step foot on any boat you would consider to see how it is setup...

Re: Fellow Four Eyes dealing with rain

I've tried Rain-x before. It works ok but not great. I went sailing on the local lake and some rain came by. I just took them off and set them aside. I could see well enough but the rain didn't last...

Re: Question: Do you close your seacocks when leaving the boat?

Good point here.

The engine and other parts below the waterline... I went to open the raw water strainer to clean out the debris trap on my boat and water overflowed until the seacock was closed....

Re: Question: Do you close your seacocks when leaving the boat?
