It is a bit close in front of the luff of the front sail for up wind work. Not sure how much that would cut into your ability to get into the wind angle of attack wise, not sure it would sacrifice...

Good idea, lot of vessels for sale will have a survey "on file" with the broker. You may need another on if it is older or if you are not able to trust the source of the survey...
