I've seen a few boat while shopping that have installed cages around prop/shaft. Not sure how well they work to avoid lines.

I've run over a few lobster floats so far, but haven't become fouled on...

As someone who is shopping right now myself, I'd agree with a waste of capital. What you're most likely to do is buy up a bunch of stuff you won't need, and then have a list of other stuff the boat...
