safety bottom scraping mask/snorkel?

would it be reasonably safe to scrape the bottom of a boat with anti fouling paint that is still in the water while using mask/snorkel/plastic scraper with respect to getting poisoned?

pros/cons of boom footed jib?

im thinking of fitting a boom footed jib to a compac 23 to be able to tack with less sail tending, but ive never used a jib with a boom before. can anyone who has give me advise about...
