re: Sextant and finding out where you aren't

I'm just speculating. Anything strange (and most have never seen a sextant) arouses the suspicion of security staff. FWIW I checked with https://apps.tsa.dhs.gov/ and was not able to get an answer...

re: Sextant and finding out where you aren't

Went to sea in the days when a sextant was all you had for determining your position. And no using H.O.214, that was considered cheating. Sextant, Nautical Almanac and Norie's Nautical Tables. You...

Re: Let's see some CS Yachts

Yes been there many times from 1990 to 2004 when I got tired of the long trip home and got a B393 that I keep in FL. The Merlin was retired to Lake Ontario in 2003. First time we went there was no...

Re: Alberg 29 wanted

The 30 was built by Whitby Boats, Whitby, Ontario. The 29 was built by Nye Boats from around Belleville, Ontario. Many 29's were kit boats, finished by the owners.

Re: Sanford And Son

Hey you must have seen my boat! Except for the bikes, I traded mine for a large blue tarp. And all this is on a C&C 30, MKI. :)

Re: CS36 Merlin Bimini/Dodger Configuration

If anyone's looking for canvas work in the Toronto area give Island Canvas a shout. Abby (Island Canvas) just made me a new dodger. Excellent work, good price and no delays. (canvas folks are...

Re: Silly : Exercises balls as insubmersible sailboat device ?

I looked into this in the eighties. The bags took up so much space there was no room left for storage! Highly impractical.

Re: Kiss Windgens

I tried to get one last year to replace one that lost a fight with lightning but John at Hotwire couldn't deliver for at least a month so I ended up with a D400. A bit more complicated to install...

Re: RIB Repairs

Flex-set is the best thing since sliced bread. Much better than the bottles and cans of expensive hypalon or pvc glue. No cruiser should set out without this.

When I was in Black Point I heard that the owner was arrested and taken to Nassau as he was threatening to kill people in Scorpios Bar. The boat was taken to the little hurricane hole next to Dotham...

Re: Beneteau USA closing operations?

In that case you should rethink the basis of your post. Just read the original thread. What do you not understand in that thread? If a boat ends up at a dealer with "a punch in it" does that mean...

Re: In-mast (un-)furling problems

Furling mains jam when the sail is furled incorrectly. A baggy main may exacerbate the problem. As stated previously you need more weight on the outhaul as you furl. Watch the sail as it goes into...
