Re: Garmin 74dv vs Raymarine E7/ E7D

I ended up getting the Simrad GO7. The B&G's were all sold out everywhere until April. Paid $500 for the unit and transom mount transducer that was included. I have it installed and after spending a...

Re: Connecting VHF to Chartplotter for DSC

Re: Connecting VHF to Chartplotter for DSC

I have the GPSMAP 78, it's about 4-5 years old. I found the cable for it so I tried for about 2 hours today to get it to work and get nowhere, tried the wiring diagram from the books, tried stuff I...

Re: Connecting VHF to Chartplotter for DSC

Thanks for the replys. The converter is a good idea, but if I bought that for almost $200 then I may as well just buy the right VHF and save the wiring headache.

I have a Garmin Handheld that I...

Connecting VHF to Chartplotter for DSC

I know this has been discussed many times, but I can't seem to find any info for my current situation. I have a new Uniden UM380 VHF and a Simrad GO7 Chartplotter that I've installed, the plan was...

Re: Internal vs External Depth Transducer

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a question on the same topic. Is there any reason that a transom mount transducer can't mount inside the hull? I bought a simrad chartplotter that I...

Re: Garmin 74dv vs Raymarine E7/ E7D

Thanks again for all the replys. I ordered a B&G Vulcan 7. It doesn't have radar capability, but after thinking about it some more I think I'll get a stand-alone unit for radar if I decide to get...

Re: Garmin 74dv vs Raymarine E7/ E7D

Thanks for all the replys again. The more I read, the more options and possibilities I come up with. Seems that 90% of the population feels the chart plotter needs to be outside.

I really don't...

Re: Garmin 74dv vs Raymarine E7/ E7D

Thank you for all the reply's, it has helped a lot! I've read through everything and then of course sparked some other questions that I read into and many hours later I think I've come up with a...

Garmin 74dv vs Raymarine E7/ E7D

In the process of setting up my "new to me" boat (1987 O'Day 322) I'm trying to figure out which chart plotter I want. The two units I'm looking at are the Garmin 74 series and the Raymarine E7...

Re: Crewsaver Inflatable with Harness?

I've looked at them, they actually have one that has a harness built in for around $150, similar to the Stearns. But they don't seem to be carried in the us either.

I'll be trying on the spinlock...

Re: Crewsaver Inflatable with Harness?

I'm an avid Scuba diver and have a few of these laying around. Carry one on every dive... I never though of keeping it on a lifevest until medsailor brought it up (good idea). They roll up to be...

Re: Crewsaver Inflatable with Harness?

Medsailor: Thanks for the follow up.... I like your setup, and for the cooler months I think that would be a great alternative. Actually for the cost, I'm thinking of setting one up like yours as a...

Re: Crewsaver Inflatable with Harness?

Thanks for the reply. I have plenty of USCG approved flotation on my boat so that is not a concern, and I haven't seen anything USCG approved that compares to the Spinlock and Crewsaver vest/...
