Re: Please recommend custom tank makers

Would not recommend any metal tank for holding.

Re: Cruising guides / charts for the Bahamas

Ditto on Explorer charts and on Pavlidis guides.
For Abacos Dodge's Guide is also superb.
If first timer then the Skipper Bob's guide on the Bahamas is also a good (and cheap) reference.

Re: Limitation of Liability

I have no doubt that major race/rally organizers have waivers, this has been the norm since the Falmouth disaster. Even some sailing clubs/associations have a beginning of the year waiver for the...

Re: Limitation of Liability

So seriously, there is so many things in life where in theory you could be liable. Think about the 10000s of boats racing once a week and the occasional weekend, should all those crews sign a...

Re: Limitation of Liability

This thread is so sad. I guess a testemant to the times we live in. I have crewed on many a vessel and have never had to sign a waiver, but have always checked out the skipper and boat to ensure I...

Re: Why not the GWB?

New York Harbour not a wonderful area to sail, lots of traffic, nasty currents, wierd winds. Gets worse up at the GWB. Better sailing out on LIS or Raritan Bay or even north around the Tappen Zee.

Re: Liveaboard Commuting to D.C.

Another option is Magothy River (Ferry Point Marina) and then grab the MARC train from Odenenton. Baltimore? and again the MARC train?
Annapolis is expensive in a marina, but there are a few places...

Re: Best power tools?

Have a Ryobi 18V set, being using it for the past 10 years, only thing I have had to replace are some of the batteries. The new Li batteries perform great, but are pricey.

Re: A little disappointed with Newfound Metals

We went with them (Brass) and loved them. Ordered slightly oversize, with the understanding that would have to cut away and do some fiberglass work, but that should not be a surprise with an older...

Use the audio out (earphone jack) and connect this to your audio/mike in on your laptop
We use JVComm, works great for downloading weather faxes.
