Welcome, we have E35II, 1973. Definitely remove the chain plates. Both sides the bulkhead were rotten. You may have remove a wood cover plates. Check the stern plate...worth putting more fiberglass...

Hobie 18 in Alaska

I had a video of three hobie 18 sailing down the coast of Alaska. The leader was guy from Hawaii, who had a dealership I think. The was from the 80's. Anyone know where I can get a copy? Mark
