I was thinking like Aristax, a tiny leak up stream large enough for air but to small for fuel.
I hate to think about the possibility of the fuel leaking down into the engine.

Looking at the numbers I am at a loss to explain the pitching and rooling.
The keel isn't as deep as some and the widest part of the beam is pretty far

Do not be afraid to pay 4 times as much for a water resistant corrosion resistant potentiometer. Also mount it as far away from water as you can. Any oxidation is "BAD" for potentiometers.
