Its through the ITCZ (the Doldrums) and against the current in a slow boat.
But 25 days is drawing out a bit.

The will not have seen another sailing boat since leaving...

Its a very narrow window to do the Azores run. I think mid May to mid June. But if they are close to there now they have left late April or beginning of May.

See also last years devestating Azores...

In the tropics most squalls only last a few minutes. In that time you close the hatches, romove the cockpit cushions, rinse the salt, bird poop off the deck, open your filler port.... the rain stops....

First, improvise a day tank with a gerry of clean diesel and see if the donk runs properly.
