Well, that puts an end to this i-thing are gods and we all genuflect to them. Jim may want to look at the Delorme PN60. I know someone who has one and they're happy with it.

I typed it once, I'll type it again: if you're serious about sailing, get a dedicated GPS chartplotter, handheld or mounted.

Put the i-thingy in a watertight bag and use it as a backup.

It's true that an Ipad or Iphone can do much more than a dedicated GPS device.

But a dedicated GPS like the Garmins don't charge for a monthly data plan. And they don't require a cell phone...

Um, I really don't think they calculate gas taxes on top of other taxes. I think you would have to subtract the current state tax, the federal tax and any other taxes to come to the basis for the 6%...
