Of course you can use a power sander on teak. Just like on any other wood.

There have been some excellent suggestions posted already, particularly about scrapers to remove most of the old finish....

Unfortunately, no pics exist. This is mainly a family memory question. The boat in question hasn't existed for over 30 years (rotted, then burnt up as a bonfire)

What's the diff between 1cyl and 2 cyl motor of the same HP?

Yeah, I've got one of those. 1994 Johnson 3 horsepower, 2cyl, 2 cycle. Nice and light, runs great. Actually runs great now that I've rebuilt the carb and cleaned all the ignition connections...:)
