You might try going to a sailmaker and asking for 'insignia cloth', the sticky-back stuff they use to put numbers and logos on sails. Colors will be limited, not sure what you're trying to...

I've seen colored dacron sewn on the sail and screen printed images.
The numbers on my mains'l was screen printed.

The are closeable/lockable vents. You can thread them open or closed with the lower handle, and lock them in any position with the toggle nut. Classic hardware ;)
