We went in April about 5 years ago.
We planned our trip in the reverse of what Moorings suggested....went with friends who had been before and said it helps avoid the crowds.
Try to get to...

Only advice I have for you right now is to hold off on the TV's and recovering the cushions until you pay for getting the boat in the water, paying for the insurance and paying for any of the...

Re: Chartering BVI? Stay far away from Conch Chrs

We have only chartered with Moorings and Sunsail and never had a problem.

I question the out of water and dishes issue....we returned with gallons of drinking water we had provisioned with and...

Re: What I learned at the Annapolis Boat Show

I went Thursday and Friday....it was definitely more crowded on Friday but it was not totally uncrowded even on Thursday.
I saw some beautiful boats but I also saw some really disappointing boats...

Re: Liveaboard Sailing First Timer

You know anything is doable....you just have to be willing to be inconvenienced a bit and committed to frugality. What pains me is when someone says how inexpensive it is to live on a boat and makes...

Re: Pressure cooker choice

I am not a fan of aluminum for cooking either. Ever cover anything with an acidic sauce with Alum foil? The foil desolves! It ends up in your food. The jury is still out on what harm it does but i...

Re: What is the best Microwave oven for boat?

After being without one for the past 2 1/2 months I have decided to spend the funds on a new pressure cooker instead. The only things i would use the microwave for is reheating food or defrosting...

cats are great companions.....independent but loving. Having a critter on board makes coming back to the boat doubly wonderful.....nothing like a warm fuzzy greeting!

Re: Opposition to liveaboards

Our marina charges more for liveaboards but I think it is to cover the electric water and pump out because they are not metered. So I think that is only fair. They consider living aboard more than 16...

Re: how long does it take you leave?

Re: The Galley - Must Haves, Don't Needs & Wish List

The replacement filters cost about 98.00 and filter about 1000 gallons ....I think it is a very low micron filter. We use it just for drinking water and I put a bottle of it at the sinks in the heads...

Re: Liveaboard Sailing First Timer

I am sure that some think it adventurous or romantic.....to live on a sail boat and travel....just lower the anchor, stay awhile and then when the moment hits you move on to another exciting place. ...

Re: "Buyer's Market" - any data to back it up?

Ultimately it still boils down to "you get what you pay for". The well cared for and maintained boats still cost more than the same model boat that has been neglected and needs big upgrades. Often...
