Re: Need advice on painting

Great topic. I had a faded yellow gel coat and nothing would bring it back until I tried the 3M Finesse with the Makita polisher. If you don't have a good gelcoat and you're going economy because...

Re: Man overboard drill

I once observed a MOB drill on a Pegasus Class ship with life size dummy thrown over at 52 knots in 6 foot seas. Hard to spot a 6 foot dummy on the figure 8 drill at that speed. Gone in 60 seconds!

Re: Sunfish

Couldn't agree with you on that. They're largely indestructible. Zero knowledge required to sail them. And when the wind picks up, yes some exciting times. Makes an instant sailor out of most...

Re: defining "rebuilt"

Folks seem to often sell right after a rebuild which makes me think they lack confidence in the quality durability of what they've done. I'd actually want it to have some run time. In discussing...

Re: Lets choose SmackDaddy's new boat...

Sorry for your loss. More than anything a man and his boat are bonded, even more as it becomes what you dreamed of it. I had a 31' boat at a marina my second season and a hurricane came through in...

Re: Catalina 27 Motor Mount

Fixed or not, yes remote will be the next upgrade. The moveable mounts are mostly unreliable or right expensive with a 90 lb 4 cycle. I chose to custom fabricate it because even selecting one you...

Re: Advice to a newbe

Tell him buy the boat that is mostly already what he wants. Pay below market value and sail it. It's not so much an investment concern as what do you want to do with the boat. If it serves that...

Re: Outboard Mount and the transom of a Cal 20

Re: Chesapeake charter early August?

I'm gonna go against the grain since I had similar concerns as all have expressed for August, but if you make your trip for more than a couple days you're sure to encounter a mix just as we did. ...
